The #1 Reason Agents Stall Out on AI Isn't the Tool. It's Not Having Anyone Show Them Where to Start.
RPR's 2026 survey asked agents what's actually stopping them from getting more out of AI. The top answers weren't about the technology being bad:
- Not enough training — 17%
- Too many tool options to choose from — 16%
- Not sure where to even start — 13%
Add those up and you've got roughly half of all agents stuck for the same reason: too many choices, not enough of a starting point. Not "AI doesn't work for real estate." Just: nobody sat down with them and said, here's the one thing to set up first, and here's exactly how.
That tracks with what agents said they actually want when it comes to learning this stuff. Short video tutorials (69%), hands-on workshops (57%), training tied to a specific use case instead of a general course (56%). Nobody's asking for a certification. They're asking for someone to sit with them for an hour and show them their own business running through the tool.
I get why the current options don't do that. A YouTube tutorial is generic — it's not built around your MLS, your CRM, your database. A course is a time commitment before you've even seen a payoff. And thirty different tools each claiming to be the answer just adds to the "where do I even start" problem instead of solving it.
Here's what I actually did in my own business: I didn't try to learn everything at once. I picked the setup that mattered — a proper install, my own real accounts and connectors, a written reference of how I actually work so any AI tool I use afterward already knows my business — and I did it once, correctly, with someone checking my work as I went. Everything after that was faster, because the foundation wasn't guesswork.
That's the exact gap between "I've messed around with AI" and "I use AI and trust it." It's not more tools. It's one focused, hands-on session where someone sets it up around your real business instead of a generic template, and you walk away with something working instead of a tab full of open questions.
If you're one of the agents in that 30%-plus who know AI could help but haven't started because you don't know where — that's a two-hour problem, not a six-month one.
