The Agents Who Win the Next Five Years Won't Be the Ones Who Adopted AI First.

RPR's February 2026 survey put a number on something a lot of us could already feel: 92% of agents are now either using AI or planning to. Eight percent say never, and that number will keep shrinking.

Which means "I use AI" stopped being a differentiator right about now. When 9 out of 10 agents in your market are using the same handful of tools for the same handful of tasks — writing listings, drafting emails, generating social posts — that's not an edge anymore. It's the price of staying in the room.

So if adoption isn't the differentiator, what is? The survey actually answers this, even if it doesn't say it outright. Look at the gap between how many agents use AI (82%) and how many feel genuinely confident doing it (17% "very confident"). That gap — not the adoption number — is where the next five years get decided. The agents who pull ahead won't be the ones who started first. They'll be the ones who use it correctly, consistently, and with someone checking their work over time, instead of the ones who bolted a tool onto their business and hoped for the best.

I've spent 13 years as a top producer in this market — top 3% nationally, $90 million in sales — and the thing I've learned building this same process in my own business is that a tool doesn't fix anything by itself. What actually moves the needle is knowing exactly where your business is leaking time or money, fixing that specific thing, and then having someone in your corner checking whether the fix is still working three months later, six months later, when your business has changed and the tool needs to change with it.

That's what's actually holding most agents' growth back right now — not a missing tool, but the absence of that ongoing check. AI adoption solved itself industry-wide in about two years. Confidence and consistency won't solve themselves the same way, because they require someone paying attention to your specific business, not a general tutorial.

If you're already using AI and wondering whether you're actually ahead or just keeping pace with everyone else, that's worth a real conversation. I'll look at what you're doing, tell you straight what's working and what's just noise, and hand you a one-page summary either way — no pitch required to get that.
